William Gordon was born on October 12, 1911 in Morgan County, Illinois. He received a B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1937 and a Ph.D. in quantitative ecology from there in 1941. Gordon was a professor at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis from 1951 to 1978. Before coming to Washington University, Gordon taught in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Minnesota from 1941 to 1942 and at t...
